In May 2012 I undertook a trip to Afghanistan to document projects for The World Bank. The Bank's official goal is the reduction of poverty and the projects involved funding to communities who had the power to spend the funds to improve the living conditions of individuals and the community as a whole. Projects funding includes micro financing to tailors to expand business, access roads being built to assist remote communities, solar power initiatives that allow children to study at night, funds to build communtiy halls and women empowerment projects the grants are making significant changes to the lives of people living in harsh and often poverty stricken conditions. In the process of documenting these projects I travelled extensively through the country and witnessed first hand the extreme's of a beautiful , often unforgiving landscape.
